If you thought a car running on air is a far-fetched dream, think again. Yes you are hearing it right, the founders of Pirate Bay which is the most popular torrent website has setup a new company named as Njalla which gives you to register your domain anonymously, i.e. your domain will be privacy free.
Peter Sunde is the co-founder & former spokesperson of Pirate bay. Njalla is run by 1337 LLC based in Nevis.
In an online press, they released one statement – “We care about your right to privacy. We believe it’s an important piece of democracy that we have the right to be anonymous.”
When you buy a domain from Njalla, it means you’re actually purchasing it for Njalla. They will be the actual owners of the domain. However, you will still have the full control over the domain name. You can either use their information or yours, you can even manage the whole DNS controls by setting up your own nameservers.
Njalla seems to be nice because you can even migrate your domain to some other provider very easy without paying any additional cost.
What does Njalla mean?
From the dictionary: A njalla is a traditional type of storage hut or cache built on top of a long stump of a tree or pole in order to prevent animals of getting hold of the contents (typically food or other perishables). The word is referring to the classic Sámi way of keeping the non-wanted beasts out of the stuff you care about.
Currently they are accepting only two payment gateways i.e. Bitcoin and PayPal. The team which is behind Njalla also owns some other privacy projects like IPredator VPN Service, Piratbyran and Flattr.
To Login or manage your account, you can either use your E-Mail ID or XMPP(With OTR) which is the most popular protocol (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) used by hacktivists. And for Email Security, they are supporting PGP Encryption so that all of your outgoing e-mail will be signed and encrypted.
Every domain includes:
- Managed DNS
- 24/7 Support
- Domain Privacy
- Full usage rights
- Easy to transfer
Njal.la is opening up today for beta testing, but they’ll accept the limited amount of customers to use their service because they want to examine the user’s feedback and then they will do further optimisation.
The starting price for domain registration starts from 15€ and goes upto 60€ depending upon the TLD which you choose.
